'He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.' (Matthew 10:41)
Is this about financial success? We do not see prophets in the Bible abounding in riches. Is it about position and honor? No, we see that prophets are not honored, especially by those closest to them. What kind of reward is this? Prophets listen, speak, and watch carefully. An encounter with a true prophet will produce a great desire to know and obey the living God. This leads to recognizing Jesus. When John the Baptist preached repentance and announced the kingdom of heaven, multitudes of oppressed people went to him and received this vision. Suffering people knew how to recognize the Son of God in the humble carpenter, while knowledge blinded the Pharisees, scribes, and doctors of the law. Today more than ever, hearts need to hear what the Spirit says to His church.
'As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; therefore be zealous and repent.' (Revelation 3:19)
