If we only partially understand the cross, we can only partially appropriate all that God has done for us through Jesus’ crucifixion. The more we understand the cross, the more we are able to appropriate its power. It is necessary for Christians to obtain a complete understanding of the victory that Christ achieved by shedding His blood on the cross, because this is a great and ever-active event. The more we understand why it was necessary for Jesus to shed His blood and understand the fruits brought by His death and resurrection, the more we will live in the glorious liberty that God has made possible for us through the cross of Jesus.
