When Books Become Seeds of Hope: EUN at the Teresa Buonocore Award

The fifth edition of the Teresa Buonocore Award, hosted at the Mostra d'Oltremare in Naples, was one of those occasions where words, stories, and testimonies transformed into a tangible message for new generations.

There are events that leave more than just a memory.
The fifth edition of the Teresa Buonocore Award, hosted at the Mostra d’Oltremare in Naples, was one of those occasions where words, stories, and testimonies transformed into a concrete message for new generations.

The award, dedicated to the memory of Teresa Buonocore — a mother murdered after reporting the abuse her daughter suffered — brought together over 400 high school students from Campania around the themes of legality, courage, and responsibility.

In this context, EUN – Edizioni Umanità Nuova chose to be present with a simple but deeply symbolic gesture: donating 300 copies of Corrie ten Boom's book "The Hiding Place" to the young people attending.

Corrie ten Boom's story speaks of faith, forgiveness, and hope amidst horror.
It is the testimony of a woman who, despite the suffering experienced during Nazi persecution, continued to believe that Christ's love could be stronger than hatred.

And this is precisely the core of EUN – Edizioni Umanità Nuova's vision: to bring true stories that not only inform but also transform, spark questions, and leave a mark.

Because we believe that books can still reach people's hearts.
And that investing in young people, in schools, and in a culture of hope means investing in the future of our land.

This day was not just about handing out books.
It was confirmation that even a small gesture can become a seed capable of generating impact, awareness, and hope.
