EUN meets Pope Leo XIV with Maestro Bocelli: Iovino and Di Vaio: “May books be an instrument of dialogue and peace”
In the evocative setting of Castel Gandolfo, a place deeply connected to the history of the Popes and today once again a space for encounter, dialogue, and spirituality, Alessandro Iovino and Ilaria Di Vaio, President and Editorial and Creative Director of EUN – Edizioni Umanità Nuova respectively, had the honor of meeting Pope Leo XIV, in the presence of Maestro Andrea Bocelli.
A particularly significant moment, integrated into the context of the experience of the “Voices Of” choir of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, an organization that, through music, education, and the promotion of talent, carries forward a message capable of speaking especially to the new generations. A message that EUN feels is close to its own vision: putting culture and talent at the service of others, building bridges, and generating hope.
“We believe that wherever we are called to go, we must try to be light. Culture, books, music, and above all faith can still illuminate people's lives, create dialogue, and remind us that serving others gives meaning to what we do,” is the thought shared by Iovino and Di Vaio.
On the occasion of the meeting, EUN wished to present Pope Leo with four books, chosen as a testament to the publisher’s cultural and spiritual journey.
The first, “The History of the Popes”, in its Volume I retraces the origins and early centuries of the Petrine ministry, offering an evangelical perspective. Added to this is “Just as I Am”, the autobiography of Billy Graham, a testament to a life entirely dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel.
The third volume, “A Brief Profile of the History of Christianity: From the Reformation to Today” by Professor Giancarlo Rinaldi, proposes a synthesis of the events that have marked modern Christianity. Finally, “The Story of a Friendship” by Alessandro Iovino, which, through an interview with Pope Francis and Pastor Giovanni Traettino, recounts the value of an authentic friendship capable of overcoming distances and differences and transforming into a concrete witness of dialogue.
The letter delivered along with the volumes calls precisely to this vocation: to safeguard the memory of faith and Christian history while simultaneously looking to the future through dialogue, responsibility toward others, and the ability to build relationships.
This is the path that EUN – Edizioni Umanità Nuova intends to continue following after over sixty years of history: to bring an evangelical message into the world of culture, to create opportunities for encounter, and, wherever possible, to be light.
